Erasmus is the European Commission's leading educational exchange programme for higher education students, teachers and institutions. It was introduced with the aim of increasing student mobility within Europe and now operates across 33 countries and involves over 4,000 higher education institutions. Over two and a half million students have benefited from Erasmus since its introduction in 1987. Erasmus forms part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2013).
Since 2005 Lithuanian Maritime Academy is taking part in the Lifelong Learning Program / Erasmus project.
